GLENCOE, Ill. (August 28, 2012) — The Woman's Board of the Chicago Horticultural Society presents its seventh annual All Aboard! party on Thursday, November 29, 2012. Co-chaired by Gail Miller and Alicia Crawford, both of Lake Forest, the theme of this year’s dinner is “The Splendor of Imperial Russia.” The evening’s entertainment will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception complemented by a caviar and vodka bar. Further enhancing the theme, guests will enjoy a performance by “Golosa,” a Russian singing ensemble.

(September 26, 2012) - The Joseph Regenstein, Jr. School of the Chicago Botanic Garden is once again pleased to present its annual Janet Meakin Poor Research Symposium, Friday, October 26, 2012. This year’s symposium, Research-based Answers to Burning Questions about the Ecology of Prescribed Fires: When, Where and Why?, explores the natural history of fires, current fire research and future trends in a variety of fire-maintained ecosystems.

GLENCOE, Ill. (October 5, 2012) – The Chicago Botanic Garden’s Spooky Pooch Parade takes place October 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is the only day of the year visitors have an opportunity to bring their dogs to the Garden, located in Glencoe. “We are hoping that everyone puts their best paw forward,” said Claire Plunkett, coordinator for the parade. “Last year we had dogs dressed as chia pets, princesses and pirates. The chia pets didn’t fool us. Our horticulture staff knew immediately that they didn’t need watering,” she said.

GLENCOE, Ill. (September 25, 2012) - The Illinois Orchid Society fall show and sale comes to the Chicago Botanic Garden with a world of beauty on Saturday, October 13, and Sunday, October 14. Members of the Illinois Orchid Society will display their finest flowers, which range from the rarest of species to the latest cultivated hybrids. The plants are open to red, white and blue ribbons in 128 class competitions. Best of Class and other awards will also be given out.

(Sept. 6, 2012) –The Chicago Botanic Garden will host its second Autumn Brews: Seasonal Beer Tasting in the Garden event on Thursday, October 11, at the scenic McGinley Pavilion from 6 to 8 p.m. Beer connoisseurs will have an opportunity to taste a wide array of seasonally-selected beers while they view the fall colors in the Gardens of the Great Basin.
